Create projectless chat sessions under a managed, date-scoped Chats directory and clean abandoned or deleted session folders.
Add Chats to sidebar state, startup cache, shared context, and Electron Mini Chat while keeping VS Code project-only. Resolve managed chat directories to one server-side memory owner and document the runtime contracts.
The token breakdown of an assistant message accumulates across every API
round-trip inside the turn: each tool call re-reads the whole cached
prompt, so input/cache.read add up to several times the context window.
Every context-usage surface summed those fields, which is why the meter
could read 330% of a 1M window whose real fill was 232,872 tokens
(23.3%), and why reopening an older session jumps the readout (#2562).
The server reports the final round-trip's window as tokens.total
(optional in the message schema; opencode 1.18.18 returns it, verified
against its live /session/:id/message API). Prefer it everywhere the
window fill is displayed and fall back to summing only when the server
did not send it: contextTokensFromBreakdown in tokenUtils now owns that
rule, and the context store extractor, sync store getter, work status
panel, context sidebar, VS Code layout, mini chat, and mobile metadata
all use it instead of their own inline sums.

Linux AppImages were created without native WM decorations and without
in-app controls, leaving users unable to close the window with a mouse.
Treat Linux like Windows: frameless BrowserWindow plus the existing
WindowsWindowControls header buttons and app-menu entry. macOS keeps
hidden title bar with traffic lights unchanged.
Shared usesFramelessElectronChrome() helper drives main window, mini
chat, header insets, and titlebar controls.

Replaces static context icons with live circular progress indicators
Applies consistent context progress in desktop, mobile, VS Code, and mini-chat headers
Keeps usage coloring tied to existing status thresholds
Rework the desktop layout so the left sidebar spans the full window
height and reads as a distinct column, separate from the header.
- Persistent top-left controls (sidebar toggle + project actions) as a
single overlay that no longer migrates between header and sidebar, so
it stays put while panels animate. Drag regions carve out only under
the buttons so the strip stays draggable and the buttons clickable.
- Header sits in the content column (bg-background); the divider lives
on the chat content (border-t) so it doesn't run between header and
right sidebar. Right sidebar gets a top border + small content padding.
- Drop the rounded chat card and corner masks for flat 1px borders.
- Right sidebar, context panel and git/files views inherit the
background color instead of bg-sidebar.
- Remove hover background from Changes/Staged rows.
- Mini-chat header: borderless, bg-background.
OpenInAppButton and ProjectActionsButton now render icon-only triggers in the header instead of icon + text. Padding is tightened accordingly and the now-unused selectedButtonLabel / formatActionButtonLabel helpers are gone.
With narrower triggers the previous center-aligned dropdown with translate -30px started overflowing the viewport on the left edge for ProjectActions. Switched ProjectActions dropdown to align="start" and OpenInApp dropdown to align="end" (matching their positions in the header) and removed the manual translate offset.
Also fixed a long-standing inconsistency where clicking an already-running action in the ProjectActions dropdown re-ran it instead of stopping; the non-compact branch was missing toggleStopIfRunning=true that the compact branch already passed.
MiniChat header now uses bg-sidebar to match the main desktop header palette.
Replace @remixicon/react with a shared Icon component that renders
via <use href> references to a single hidden SVG sprite. This reduces
DOM node count by replacing inline SVGs with lightweight references.

Add dedicated Electron Mini Chat windows for focused chat sessions without the full desktop shell. Mini Chat can open existing sessions or draft sessions, supports pinning above other windows, transfers sessions or drafts back to the main window, and deduplicates existing-session windows.
Expose Mini Chat entry points from the main header, session sidebar, command palette, and `mod+alt+n`. Add a dedicated Vite entry and React runtime so the compact surface can stay isolated from full-app chrome while still sharing chat, sync, theme, locale, model, agent, and worktree behavior.
Keep Mini Chat behavior scoped to the compact surface:
- limit assistant/user message actions to the appropriate Mini Chat set
- hide workspace changed-files UI in Mini Chat
- keep draft worktree selection and streaming directory state in sync
- mark sessions viewed while they are open in Mini Chat
- support Mini Chat-specific keyboard shortcuts for input focus, model selection, thinking variant cycling, favorite model cycling, and opening new Mini Chat drafts
Harden Electron integration by gating Mini Chat controls on desktop IPC availability, restricting pin/unpin IPC to Mini Chat windows, and only closing Mini Chat after the main window handoff succeeds.
