Input history (#3035) shipped with "All projects" as the default scope and
only recorded prompts sent after the upgrade, so ArrowUp showed other
sessions' prompts and, once switched to "Current session", nothing at all.
Default to the current session and merge the visible transcript's prompts
with the persisted bucket. Existing sessions recall as they did before
#3035, while new prompts keep their attachments and stay recallable after
a revert hides them from the transcript.
Cleanup across #1855, #2297, #3072, #3178, #3035 and #3135: drop the
duplicate poll guards in the file content poller, the zod schema the
VS Code package cannot depend on, a copied file-URL helper and stray
whitespace; move the Enter-to-send strings into the settings namespace;
document OPENCHAMBER_CHATS_DIR, resolve the chats root once on the server
and warm it alongside the other bootstrap calls.
* feat(ui): add composer enter-to-send toggle and native hardware-keyboard detection
Replaces the settings-page "Enter sends with a keyboard attached" checkbox with
an EnterKeyToggle in the composer footer: plain Enter submits / Shift+Enter
inserts a newline when enabled, Shift+Enter submits / Enter inserts a newline
when disabled. Ctrl/Cmd+Enter always submits as the soft-keyboard fallback.
Persisted as enterToSend.
Adds the Android HardwareKeyboardPlugin: scans input devices for an alphabetic
physical keyboard (ignoring phantom key/sensor devices), re-answers on config
changes/foreground, and confirms attachment from real hardware key events.
MainActivity surfaces key events to it before the WebView consumes them. The
composer and draft layout start keyboard-aware instead of inferring one focus
late; ComposerEditor preserves Enter modifiers through CodeMirror's deferred
re-dispatch so the toggle can tell Shift/Ctrl+Enter from plain Enter.
Removes the settings search entry and i18n keys for the old checkbox.

While a turn runs, the collapsed pill showed a plain Send button for a
draft that the expanded composer shows as Queue with a rotated icon, and
the pill routed it through the primary action. The pill now queues, with
the same label and icon as the expanded composer.

Thanks for refining the action placement. This keeps New chat available while idle and preserves Abort while a response is running. We will finish the repository-specific cleanup in the same batch.
Queueing captured only the text and files. Context chips (inline comments,
terminal selections, browser annotations, PR comments and checks, quotes,
linked issue/PR/Linear references, pending synthetic parts) stayed in the
composer and only left with the next manual send, so a queued message the
server delivered went out without them and the chips rode an unrelated
message later.
A queued message now carries what the composer would have sent: the text
with its agent mention stripped and file mentions resolved into
attachments, the attached context as structured parts, and the skill
instruction derived from the text. The server delivers those parts in the
composer's order, the VS Code auto-send does the same, and editing a queued
message puts the chips and linked references back. A failed queue restores
the composer completely. Snapshots and broadcasts omit the captured
context like attachment payloads; a take returns it.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01HB9wdLQoZX2vfyDjwv6Rso
Messages queued while a session is busy used to live in the browser tab and
were sent by that tab once the session went idle, so closing the tab (or
losing the connection) stranded them. The web server now owns the queue:
it persists to <data-dir>/message-queue.json, watches session.status on the
global event hub, re-verifies idleness against OpenCode before sending, and
delivers the head of the queue via prompt_async (or /command for slash
commands) with the model, agent, variant, attachments, and agent mention
captured at queue time. Failed sends stay queued and retry with backoff; a
user abort holds delivery briefly; every change is broadcast so all clients
see one queue.
The shared UI store becomes a projection of the server queue outside VS
Code (hydrate on connect, apply broadcasts, optimistic mutations settled on
the server's copy, one-time upload of locally queued messages from older
builds). Edit / send-now take the full message back from the server. A
UI-driven auto-review run asks the server to hold that session's queue.
VS Code keeps its local queue and foreground auto-send.

* feat(ui): block branch switches on dirty trees
* feat(ui): show unpushed commits in git branch selector
* feat(ui): show recent branches in git selector
* fix(ui): persist recent branch status
* feat(ui): add mobile branch picker
* fix(ui): guard mobile branch checkout
* fix(i18n): restore Turkish git empty state labels
* feat(ui): flag dirty draft directories on the branch selector
Replaces the draft dirty-directory banner with an indicator on the branch
selector: a warning icon plus a hover tooltip that opens by itself for five
seconds when the dirty state first appears, then stays hover-only. The copy
states the situation and the options (commit or worktree) without prescribing
either.
* feat(ui): optional push in the dirty branch switch dialog
Commit-and-switch gains an opt-in "Push after commit" checkbox. When the
push fails the commit stands but the switch is cancelled with an explicit
toast, so the user is never moved off a branch without knowing its push did
not happen. Without the checkbox the toast states the commit is local only.
* fix(i18n): align dirty-directory copy across locales
* fix(a11y): name the unpushed-commit badge in the branch picker
The badge showed a bare arrow and number with no accessible name or tooltip.
Both the desktop recents list and the mobile picker now carry a localized
"N commits not pushed" title and aria-label.
* fix(mobile): push before switching dirty branches
Honor the dirty-switch dialog's push option on the mobile Changes surface.
A failed push leaves the new commit on its source branch, refreshes state, and
cancels checkout. Mobile branch selection now also shows the existing dirty
switch notice.
Switching sessions moved the conversation on screen before the swap: the
composer and the status chip followed the live selection and re-shaped a
commit ahead of the timeline, so the pinned outgoing chat jumped; and the
reveal effect re-ran for the outgoing session when its waited flag flipped,
hiding it a few frames before the next one mounted. The chat column now
reads one deferred session, and the reveal runs once per opened session.
* feat(linear): start sessions from Linear issues
Authorize a Linear workspace on this OpenChamber server, map teams to
projects, attach an issue from chat, start a session or worktree from an
issue, and post started/completed/failed comments that open the session.
Hidden in VS Code.
* feat(linear): connect more than one Linear workspace
Store each OAuth grant on this OpenChamber server and keep one current, so Settings can add and switch workspaces without dropping the others. Project mapping is per workspace. Remove the Linear button next to New Chat; start-from-issue stays on New Worktree.
* feat(linear): add a right-hand issues panel
Browse and filter issues in the rail, open a card to change status or start a session, and collapse search plus most filters to icons on a narrow panel.
* feat(linear): open issues in the rail and filter by Linear status
The rail icon only shows after Linear is connected. Clicking a Linear row on work status opens the panel. Status options match the card, including Done, Canceled, and Duplicate. The Integrations experimental warning sits under Third-party integrations.
* fix(linear): use stable OAuth callback broker
* fix(chat): preview Linear issue attachments
The context switch missed linear-issue, so tsc treated the preview helpers as incomplete.
* fix(ui): restore Linear i18n parity and the #2903 sync harness
Turkish was missing the Linear dictionaries, and the subagent test still wrapped only SyncContext after reads moved to SyncRuntimeContext.
* fix(linear): drop changelog hunks and close review races
Keep changelogs out of this PR, restore CodeMirror ranges, ignore stale Linear list pages, and leave a persisted Linear tab open until auth has actually resolved.
* fix(linear): tint active issue filters and clear them in one click
* fix(markdown): read escaped brackets as text, not display math
`\[...\]` is display math in LaTeX and an escaped bracket pair in
CommonMark. The block tokenizer claimed every `\[`, so prose like
`[title \[Bug\] more](url)` was handed to KaTeX: "Bug" rendered as a
centered formula and the block token split the paragraph, tearing the
link into three pieces. Linear, GitHub and any other source that escapes
brackets the way CommonMark requires hit this.
Display math now has to own its line — `\[` starts one and `\]` ends
one. A formula on its own line still renders; `\[` mid-sentence stays an
escape, which is what CommonMark says it is and what prose almost always
means. Inline `\(...\)` keeps the same ambiguity, but inline math is
legitimately mid-sentence, so there is no position to judge it by.
Covered by regression tests, including the verbatim comment body that
surfaced this.
* feat(linear): make session status comments opt-in and public-only
A status comment lands in a Linear workspace the whole team reads, and
the link it carried pointed at whatever origin started the session —
usually loopback or a LAN address. Everyone but its author got a dead
link, and nobody had agreed to the comments in the first place.
Comments are now off until the user turns them on in Settings ->
Integrations -> Linear, and the check lives on the server: the event hub
posts completed and failure without going through the interface, so a
client-side gate would not hold. When the resolved origin is not
publicly reachable the server posts nothing at all rather than a link
only its author can open; `isPublicSessionOrigin` rejects loopback,
private LAN, carrier-grade NAT, link-local and single-label hosts. The
desktop deep-link origin is gone with it, since no one else can follow
one either.
The comment body also dropped the session title. It repeated the issue
the comment already sits on, and issue titles routinely carry brackets
("[Bug] ...") that broke the markdown link. The body is now one short
link, and `sessionTitle` is gone from the route, client and types.
Also caps the dedupe file at the newest 500 sessions; it grew forever.
* fix(linear): match the pull request panel and clear review findings
Comments in the Linear panel now render as the same avatar timeline the
pull request panel uses, with the shared time-format preference instead
of a raw locale string. Comment authors carry `avatarUrl`, which the
GraphQL selection was not requesting.
Review findings from the same pass:
- `status-runtime.js` hand-rolled `typeof` narrowing and failed the
vendored anti-slop lint; it now parses through `parse.js` like every
other file in the module.
- `useLinearAuthStore` turned any failed request into `connected: false`
with `hasChecked: true`. Since the rail icon, the composer entry and
the worktree option all gate on `connected === true`, one network blip
hid Linear for the rest of the session, and Settings only re-checked
when it had never checked. It now keeps the last known status and
leaves `hasChecked` false so the next caller retries.
- `LinearIssuesView` (1096 lines) was a static import in `ContextPanel`,
shipping in the main bundle although its rail icon stays hidden until
a workspace is connected. It is lazy now, like `GitView`.
- Dropped dead code: the unused port helpers left over from the loopback
callback, two re-exported default values nothing read, and a redundant
export in `linkedIssues`.
- Integrations is no longer badged beta.
Switching sessions ran as one synchronous commit: sidebar highlight, URL,
a full timeline remount with markdown re-parse, and around nine requests,
so nothing changed on screen for 150-250ms after the click.
- ChatContainer swaps the timeline on a deferred copy of the selection, so
the active row, URL, and tab commit first and the timeline renders behind
them; selection policy keeps reading the live store value.
- The message fetch starts before the selection is published.
- Sidebar rows stop re-rendering on a project switch: directory-scoped sync
hooks read the runtime context and a subscribable current-directory source
instead of the directory-bearing context; the grouping builder reads git
branches through a ref and section caches key the branches they use;
descendant ids are keyed by content. Rows per switch went from 73 to 8.
- Markdown skips the async re-render when the settled cached blocks are
already painted, and mounts synchronously once its lazy module is loaded;
the module is preloaded at boot.
- A timeline reveal gate holds a freshly opened session at opacity 0 while
any provisional markdown paint catches up (250ms cap), then fades the whole
timeline in once, so text, tools, and recap appear together.
- Switch fan-out trimmed: knowledge summary deduped, MCP status refreshed only
when stale, non-repo directories cached by the git repo check, OpenChamber
defaults cached briefly, agent memory reused for the same project, goal
text cached, PWA manifest rebuilt after the switch settles.
- Header tabs snap into the active state and keep the title at the same
height in both states.
- Prefetch on row press; composer focus moved off the commit.
`bun run profile:switch` records ack/content latency, longest task, and
requests per switch, cold and warm, and compares runs against a baseline.
Measured warm switch: ack 228ms to about 40-60ms, content 228ms to about
100-120ms.
Follow-ups promised on merge, plus review findings on the batch itself:
- chat: task-tool output now respects the 512KiB render cap; quick-open
icon is visible at rest on coarse pointers and reachable by keyboard
(row keydown no longer swallows inner-button Enter/Space); composer
inline-code decoration drops the metric-shifting padding; a btw fork
send carries only the boundary instruction, never the promotion notice
- sync: cascade revert/unrevert aborts busy descendants, busy state is
read from every child store at the moment of use; rule 9 documents
redo clearing all descendant revert markers
- electron: renderer recovery keeps memory-eviction (a valid
render-process-gone reason) and both windows share one
attachRendererRecovery helper
- vscode: process registry is a thin re-export of the web module
(provider-env-aliases precedent) with ordered register/unregister
writes and an awaited close
- server/cli: managed-process registry takes injectable deps (fixes the
unreaped-orphans ReferenceError), corrupt settings errors name the
file, getWorktrees test restores console.warn
- tests: module-mock harnesses removed (AgentsSidebar, SettingsView
mobile focus — behaviors stay live but uncovered, accepted trade),
QuestionMarkdown asserts rendered DOM
- i18n: German gains the debug-panel request keys, Japanese/German drop
removed worktree keys, Ukrainian unit spacing fixed
- changelog: Copilot AI Credits entries (main + VS Code)
`useBtwPanelState` already subscribes to the composer's own session — it is
what the fork link is derived from — so asking `useSession` for the same
session and directory a second time in `ChatInput` was a duplicate
subscription for a value already in hand. Expose it as `parentSession` and
read the promoted flag from there.
No behavior change.
Review catch: `promoteBtwSession` removes the btw metadata, but the
boundary instruction is persisted on every message the session sent while
it was a side conversation, and there is no API to delete a message part
after the fact. A promoted session therefore keeps reading "no sub-agents,
do not touch the workspace" out of its own history, in a session that is
no longer a side conversation.
Promotion cannot delete those lines, so it answers them instead:
`withoutBtwSessionMarker` now leaves `openchamber.btwPromoted`, and the
composer sends `BTW_PROMOTION_NOTICE` with every message in a session
carrying it — stating that the session is now the main thread and the
usual tool, sub-agent and workspace permissions are in force.
It rides with every send for the same reason the boundary does: the
instructions it revokes are re-read on every turn, so a one-shot notice
would lose its position relative to them as the conversation grows.
`btwPromoted` is additive and optional. A session that never went through
`/btw` never has it, and one promoted before this change simply keeps the
old behavior.
`/btw` forks the session, so the model receives the parent's whole
conversation — including whatever plan was in flight when the user typed
the command. Nothing tells it that this history is context rather than
its own task, so the fork frequently carries on with the parent's work
instead of answering the side question, which is the opposite of what
`/btw` is for.
Send a boundary instruction as a synthetic part with every message in a
btw session: with the first question in `startBtwSession`, and with each
later send while the panel is expanded and the composer is talking to the
fork.
The wording is deliberately position-independent — it names the history
inherited from the parent thread rather than "everything before this
boundary". The instruction rides along with each send instead of being
pinned once at fork time, so a positional phrasing would be re-anchored
every turn and would end up telling the model to disregard the btw
session's own earlier turns.
The part is synthetic, so it is filtered out of the rendered transcript
whenever the message also carries user text — which is always the case
here. No visual change.
Removes the transient aborted banner from the composer status area
Simplifies status row rendering to focus on working state and pending changes
Cleans up unused abort-status localization strings
Every response already funnels through runtimeFetch, so a classifier there
spots 401s, confirms them against /auth/session (a proxied provider 401
must not read as a logout), and flips a small auth-session store. The web
and hosted surfaces show a frosted banner under the header whose Log in
button hands off to the session gate's existing unlock flow; sends are
paused while expired, the session-load error screen explains the auth case
and retries itself after login, and returning to a long-idle window
revalidates once via visibility/focus. Native mobile feeds the same signal
into its connection re-probe instead of showing the banner; VS Code is
exempt.
The failure handler restored the text only for a new-session draft; a
regular session kept its attachments but lost the prompt to a toast. The
restore now runs before any cause-specific branching: an unchanged composer
gets the text (and the session draft) back, new typing gets the failed
prompt appended instead of clobbered, and a mid-send session switch writes
it into the originating session's persisted draft.
mod+alt+arrows step through this window's session-open history (or between
neighbouring tabs when session tabs are on), mod+k r renames the current
session inline, and mod+k a toggles permission auto-accept. Pending
permission cards respond to alt+enter / alt+shift+enter / alt+backspace with
the keys printed on the buttons. The commit message box commits on
mod+enter, alt+arrows step the diff review between changed files, and the
command palette gains search-only commands for rare actions so the initial
list stays short.
The composer rendered a second StatusRow instance carrying the
pending-changes bar and the todos dropdown, so every restyle of the
floating assistant-status chip (glass, placement, sizing) silently
restyled the composer bar and its dropdown too — for the fourth time.
StatusRow is now only the floating chip above the composer; the
composer's own bar is a new ComposerStatusBar with the pre-glass layout,
its own container name, and its own container-query classes (the
anti-overlap rules that hide the long active todo under 38rem and the
changed-files label under 30rem moved with it — losing them during the
split let the two dropdown triggers overlap on mobile). The two
components share no markup and no CSS hooks anymore.
Sending while the agent is working queues the message without creating a
user row, so the anchor-arming send path had nothing to claim and the
viewport stayed parked mid-history. Queued sends now jump straight to
the live edge (instant, so end following re-latches immediately).
Rail selection also switches from smooth to instant scrolling: a long
smooth scroll through the virtualized timeline gets cancelled by row
remounts and lands mid-way or on the wrong message, while a teleport
always arrives.
Six reported defects, one root theme — our port diverged from the
reference semantics:
- a user gesture no longer collapses the reserved anchored end space
(that snap-to-bottom was the 'anchoring vanishes on a micro-scroll');
it only disarms the follow/anchor machinery, and anchor remeasures
after the user takes over can no longer re-position the viewport
- the anchor arms synchronously BEFORE the send reaches the store, and
the claim compares against the arm-time baseline — arming a frame
after the optimistic row committed is why anchoring 'rarely worked'
and sending from mid-history did nothing
- gestures are selective (wheel up, touch/pointer away from the end,
PageUp/Home/ArrowUp), so scrolling toward the end or clicking a row
at the live edge no longer kills follow
- 'at end' is a tight 40px band against the full content length instead
of the list's half-viewport isNearEnd, so the scroll-to-bottom pill
appears when the viewport actually leaves the end
- reaching the end re-arms follow without knocking an anchored turn out
of its mode, and the overlay scrollbar suppression follows scroll
ownership rather than the anchor's mere existence
- the status/working row moved out of the list footer to a fixed spot
above the composer: inside the list it walked down with every
streamed line, and its unmount was part of the end-of-stream jerk
Hovering (or tapping) a context chip opens a stacked preview of its
pending items above the composer: numbered entries with a muted header
band, the captured selection, and the user's comment, which can be
edited in place (save/cancel) or removed before sending. The chips
component now subscribes to the draft store itself; the per-kind count
plumbing in ChatInput is gone.
Every user-attached context item (diff/file/plan comments, terminal
selections, browser annotations, PR comments and failed checks, linked
issues/PRs, and new chat-quote comments from the selection menu) is now
sent as its own synthetic text part carrying an openchamberContext
metadata payload. The model-facing text keeps the previous wording; the
timeline reads the metadata back and renders each item as a context card
instead of raw prompt text. Legacy messages still render via the old
text sniffing.
The selection menu gains a Comment option with an inline multiline
input, the quoted fragment stays highlighted while commenting, and on
mobile the input overlays the composer pill by rendering inside the
composer form. Add to chat is renamed Add to input; the menu is
restyled and the mobile Copy tile removed. Terminal drafts move their
terminal id out of the language field (persisted-draft migration v3),
and the dead preview-console source is deleted.
* feat(chat): /btw command — side questions in a temporary forked session
/btw <question> forks the current session (full context inheritance) and
opens a compact peek panel docked above the composer. The composer itself
becomes the btw input while the panel is open: sends route to the fork,
the placeholder and a mode chip reflect the target, and the stop button
aborts the fork's turn. Closing the panel (or the chip's ✕) destroys the
fork, leaving the main conversation untouched.
The panel shows only the fork's own tail (messages at/after the fork
creation time) and live permission/question cards scoped to the fork.
- chat/btw/BtwPanel: peek sheet (desktop + mobile), fork-tail view,
auto-close on disappearance, Esc to close
- lib/btw: startBtwSession (fork + rename + routed send), closeBtwPanel
(close = destroy), filterBtwTailMessages
- ChatInput: btw-mode send routing via SendMessageOptions.sessionId,
btw-aware activity (stop/abort), placeholder + mode chip
- useSessionActivity: exported for per-session activity reads
- i18n: btw keys across all 11 locales
* fix(chat): keep btw sends isolated
* refactor(chat): rework /btw into a metadata-scoped peek panel
- Link the active btw fork through the parent session's metadata
(openchamber.btwSessionID) so the panel exists only in the session that
invoked /btw, follows parent navigation, and survives reloads; the fork
carries a kind:'btw' marker with its originalSessionID.
- Replace the wall-clock history boundary with the id of the newest cloned
message (server-generated ascending ids), stored in fork metadata.
- Derive panel identity in useBtwPanelState; useBtwStore shrinks to
transient per-parent UI state (collapsed/creating/destroying).
- Panel UX: dropdown-style glass surface, chat ScrollShadow, single
title+chevron collapse toggle, muted header controls, promote action
(keep as a full session and navigate to it), Esc collapses instead of
destroying, reserved Working indicator row, streaming auto-follow via
ResizeObserver keyed on content readiness.
- Add a 'peek' chat surface mode that suppresses per-message controls and
turn footers inside the panel; user bubbles keep a small gap below.
- Hide btw forks from the sidebar, session switcher, and command palette
until promoted; mark the fork before inserting it into local stores.
- Delete/archive lifecycle: removing the fork unlinks the parent; removing
the parent also removes its temporary fork.
- patchSessionMetadata now mirrors updated sessions into live stores.
- Localize new strings across all 12 dictionaries; add unit tests for
metadata helpers, the btw flow, and the UI store.
* fix(chat): clamp the btw panel below the app header when the keyboard is open
Reuse useMobileAutocompleteMaxHeight (the composer autocomplete precedent)
on the panel's scroll body, reserving the panel header and bottom spacer
height, so the sheet adapts to the visual viewport instead of riding under
the app header on mobile.
* fix(lint): drop unused destructured bindings in sessionBtwMetadata
CI eslint has no underscore ignore pattern; strip metadata keys with typed
copies and delete instead of discard-destructuring.
