* perf(stores): defer safeStorage writes off the interaction path
Session switches funnel every persisted store slice through safeStorage.setItem,
and doing those large JSON.stringify writes synchronously blocked the main
thread for over a second. Add a write-behind buffer that:
- Defers each setItem/removeItem to a later task via setTimeout(0) so the
click-to-paint path is not blocked.
- Coalesces repeated writes to the same key into a single backing flush.
- Serves pending values from memory so read-after-write stays consistent
within the deferral window.
- Flushes synchronously on pagehide/beforeunload/visibilitychange/freeze so
deferred state survives tab close, reload, and the mobile freeze lifecycle.
Adds a test covering write deferral, coalescing, and pending read serving.
* fix(stores): defer persisted JSON serialization
* fix(stores): defer direct safeStorage writes

Render a streaming Thinking block inline instead of inside a capped,
independently-scrollable max-height box (the cap now applies only to finished
thinking, for compact review). The nested scroll box was capturing the wheel and
auto-pinning to its own bottom, so the chat could not be scrolled while thinking
streamed. With it gone the chat's own auto-follow owns the scroll.
Two auto-follow refinements make that solid:
- Direction-aware bottom-zone re-engage: scrolling UP into the bottom spacer zone
no longer re-arms follow (which the next growth would yank back). Follow resumes
only when the user arrives at the bottom by scrolling down, is already
following, or is at the true bottom. Kills the dead-zone fight near the bottom.
- Animation guard: while a Thinking block COLLAPSE animation runs, transient
geometry / trailing async scroll events are treated as our own and never
trigger a false release. Genuine user gestures still release instantly.
The file-reference annotation pass issues filesystem stat probes
(fileReferenceExists -> /api/fs/stat) to decide which inline-code/link tokens
become openable file links. On mobile surfaces this feature is disabled
entirely: gate the annotation effect on !isMobileSurfaceRuntime() so the pass
short-circuits before scheduling, guaranteeing no probe requests are ever sent
from a mobile runtime.
It was rendered in the middle of the checkbox list, where a labeled radio
group reads as out of place. Move it into the radio/choice cluster, right
after Diff Layout, and drop it from the checkbox section's visibility gate.
* feat: support OpenCode steer delivery / follow-up behavior settings
Implements issue #1766 — steer delivery mode for mid-turn message
insertion, replacing the old boolean queue-mode toggle with a tri-state
follow-up behavior setting (Steer / Queue / Send immediately).
- Plumbing: threaded optional delivery: 'steer' through sendMessage
-> routeMessage -> opencodeClient.sendMessage -> promptAsync
- Store: messageQueueStore stores followUpBehavior; migration from
legacy queueModeEnabled persisted state
- Settings: Chat -> Follow-up behavior shows three radio options
using existing settings UI patterns
- Composer: when session is busy, a floating queue button remains;
force-sending a queued message (via chip click) uses delivery: 'steer'
during a busy session; Steer button intentionally omitted — steer is
available via the two-gesture path (Enter to queue -> chip to steer)
- Keyboard: queue mode = Enter queues, Ctrl+Enter sends; otherwise
Enter sends, Ctrl+Enter queues
- Persistence: DesktopSettings, web settings payload, and server-side
sanitizer handle the new key with legacy fallback
- i18n: follow-up behavior section and option labels in all 9 locales
plus new chat.chatInput.actions.queue label
- Search: settings registry updated from chat.queue-mode to
chat.follow-up-behavior
Validation: type-check passes (no new errors), lint clean.
* fix(#1766): make steer mode actually steer
The followUpBehavior === 'steer' branch in handlePrimaryAction and the
keyboard handler was a no-op — both fell into the else branch and sent
without the delivery: 'steer' flag, so selecting 'Steer (insert into
the running turn)' in settings produced identical behavior to 'Send
immediately'.
- handlePrimaryAction: when steer mode is selected and the session is
busy, call handleSubmit({ delivery: 'steer' }) directly
- Keyboard handler: in steer mode, Enter steers and Ctrl+Enter sends
immediately (consistent with queue mode where Ctrl+Enter bypasses
the special handling)
Also removes the unused chat.chatInput.actions.queue i18n key from all
9 locales (it was a dead key after the Steer button was removed from
the composer).
Validation: type-check clean, lint clean.
* refactor(#1766): flatten nested ternary in followUpBehavior resolution
Replace nested ternary with explicit if/else chain per project code style
(CONTRIBUTING.md). Import FollowUpBehavior type explicitly for the new
let declaration.
* feat(chat): drop redundant 'immediate' follow-up mode, keep Queue + Steer
'Immediate' was wire-identical to 'Steer' on a busy session: OpenCode only
supports delivery 'steer' | 'queue' and defaults to 'steer', so an immediate
send (no delivery flag) already steered into the running turn. The three-mode
UI therefore exposed two settings that did the same thing.
Collapse to two modes — Queue (unchanged: client-side queue with edit/reorder)
and Steer. Any persisted/legacy 'immediate' (and legacy queueModeEnabled=false)
now maps to 'steer', preserving prior behavior. Removes the immediate option,
its keyboard branch, the i18n label across all locales, and narrows the
followUpBehavior union to 'steer' | 'queue'.

* fix(worktree): include sessions when deleting worktree group from sidebar
allGroupSessions was guarded by group.isArchivedBucket, returning [] for
active worktree groups. This caused the 'delete worktree' button in the
sidebar to send an empty session list — SessionDialogs only removed the
git worktree directory and skipped archiving any sessions, leaving them
orphaned.
Remove the guard so all sessions (including recursive children /
subagent sessions) are collected regardless of archived state.
* fix(sessions): delete all descendants on hard-delete instead of relying on server cascade
The previous code sent only the root session ID and assumed the server
would cascade-delete all children. If the cascade failed, children were
left orphaned. Delete root + descendants individually; 404 responses
from already-cascade-deleted children are treated as success.
* fix(sessions): clear worktree metadata when deleting a session
Deleted sessions kept their worktree attachment in both
session-worktree-store and session-ui-store. Clean it up on successful
deletion and on 404 (already deleted).
* fix(worktree): search subagent sessions across all directories before delete
WorktreeSectionContent and BranchPickerDialog used useSessions(), which
is scoped to the current sync directory. Subagent sessions created in
other worktrees/project roots were missed and left orphaned. Search
across active + archived global sessions when collecting descendants.

When clicking a session inside a worktree group, the layout effect in
useProjectSessionSelection could override the user's selection with the
project's first root session. This happened because projectSections
(and thus projectSessionMeta) might not yet include the worktree group
on the first render after the click.
The fix adds a guard: if currentSessionId is set but not found in the
current projectMap (stale data), the effect returns early instead of
falling through to auto-selection logic.

Redesign the mobile composer model and agent buttons as borderless, full-bleed
labels that hug their content, truncate with an ellipsis when space is tight,
and show the provider logo inline before the model name. Tighten the footer
action buttons (sessions / attach / auto-accept) so they sit close together,
with a small left inset on the group. In the mobile model selection overlay,
make the thinking-variant control text-only with a chevron, vertically center
the variant and favorite controls in each row, and place the provider logo
inline with the model name.
Give touch surfaces a larger, viewport-relative head start for loading older
history so an in-flight fetch completes before the finger reaches the top.
Raise the mobile virtualizer overscan so fast flings stay populated instead of
leaving blank gaps, and drop the fixed itemSize hint so virtua auto-estimates
row heights from measured sizes instead of a flat constant.
Gate passive auto-follow on active (working/settling) state so idle layout
churn from virtualizer re-measurement no longer re-pins the viewport to the
bottom. Render default-open tool bodies synchronously on mount so the
virtualizer measures the real row height up front instead of growing a frame
later and lurching scroll past several messages.
Marks active embedded chat sessions as seen only while focused
Shows real session titles for context panel chat tabs
Names review sessions after the implementation session
Show a count of chats (root sessions) with unseen activity on the macOS
dock icon. The count is computed in the existing tray snapshot (full
cross-project list, not the capped tray view; a subtask's unseen rolls up
to its root only when subtask notifications are enabled) and pushed to the
main process over the existing desktop_tray_update IPC, which calls
app.setBadgeCount (0 clears it). The badge clears as sessions are marked
seen on window focus.
Add a Dock badge toggle in Appearance settings (default on, persisted,
darwin desktop only), localized across all dictionaries, with a matching
settings-search entry whose availability mirrors the render guard exactly.
Replace the RAF easing follow loop + settle burst with an always-on
instant-follow model: while pinned, the content ResizeObserver re-pins to
the bottom synchronously (scrollTop = scrollHeight, before paint) and is
the only writer of scrollTop. A position+TTL auto marker distinguishes our
own programmatic writes from genuine user scrolling, so a scroll event that
lands at the just-written bottom never trips a false release.
This removes the feedback loop where the easing animation, growing content,
and the user's own scroll all fought for scrollTop in the same frame -- the
infinite twitch when scrolling down during streaming, and the jiggle on
send / from the queue. The public hook interface is unchanged; all
consumers keep working untouched.
Two scroll owners were writing the chat container's scrollTop concurrently
during pinned content growth and on send, fighting frame-to-frame and
producing the reported flicker/jiggle (after a pause, from the queue, on user
interruptions) plus a visible double scroll on a normal user send.
Enforce a single-writer invariant in useChatAutoFollow:
- The easing follow loop and the instant settle burst now mutually exclude:
starting one stops the other, so they can never write scrollTop in the same
frame. The isFollowingProgrammatically flag (which suppresses the overlay
scrollbar) is owned by whichever loop is active and cleared only when both
are idle, including the settle burst's natural 280ms end.
Stop the redundant re-pin storm in useChatTimelineController:
- While pinned, route goToBottom('instant') only for a prepend (history loaded
above), not on every bottom append / streaming part. Normal growth is owned
by the follow loop (kicked by the content ResizeObserver and chunk handlers).
Remove the double movement on send:
- Add scrollToBottomOnSend: when already following, just (re)kick the follow
loop for a single smooth movement instead of also firing an instant
goToBottom that raced the ResizeObserver-driven loop. When released (scrolled
up), keep the instant jump to the just-sent message.
* feat(shortcuts): make 'Open model selector' shortcut customizable

* fix(agents): surface manual-restart needed when on external OpenCode
Agent prompt/permission/settings edits are written to disk, but an
external OpenCode server (skip-start or auto-detected on the default
port) is not owned by OpenChamber and is only health-probed on config
change, so it keeps serving its startup-cached config until restarted.
The API previously claimed a successful reload, so the UI silently
reverted the edit to the stale/default value on refresh.
Now refreshOpenCodeAfterConfigChange reports whether a real reload
happened; agent routes return requiresManualRestart for external mode;
and the agents UI keeps the saved values and warns the user to restart
their OpenCode server instead of showing a false success. Managed mode
behavior is unchanged (process is restarted and reload is live).

* feat(model-picker): drag-to-reorder providers and persist accordion state
Ports two model/provider picker QoL features from otto-ui:
- Persist collapsed state of picker sections (favorites, recent, each
provider) via a new persisted zustand store so collapse survives
remounts and reloads, shared across every picker surface.
- Desktop drag-to-reorder of provider sections (whole header as the
mouse activator, 8px threshold so a plain click still toggles
collapse), with the order persisted in useUIStore.providerOrder and
applied across ModelControls, ModelMultiSelect and ModelSelector.

* feat(sessions): shift-click quick action hard-deletes thread without prompt
Ports the shift-quick-delete feature from otto-ui. The sidebar quick
action (normally archive) becomes a no-prompt hard delete while Shift is
held: the icon switches to a trash bin, the affordance turns destructive,
and the click bypasses the confirmation dialog via a new skipConfirm
source flag. A shared useShiftKeyHeld hook (single window listener set,
useSyncExternalStore) keeps only the small action button re-rendering on
Shift state changes, and resets on window blur so the affordance can't
get stuck after alt-tab.

Sending a message while a question prompt was open left the prompt
lingering, blocked the send, or collided with the still-blocked agent
turn. Two root causes:
useSessionActivity treated pending permissions as idle but not pending
questions, so the send button became Stop during a question and Enter
queued/collided instead of sending. handleSubmit also never dismissed
the open question, stranding the session in a half-answered state.
The send path now dismisses open questions for the session subtree
(optimistic local clear so the card vanishes instantly, plus a formal
question.reject) and queues the message. The queued-message auto-send
hook then delivers it as the next turn once the rejected turn winds
down and the session returns to idle. Queueing avoids aborting the
turn, which surfaced an unwanted "running turn was stopped" notice.
Regression tests cover the no-op, subtree dismissal (root + subagent
child), and QuestionNotFoundError paths.
When older history is prepended while the viewport is pinned to the bottom, the
timeline controller wrote the re-pin manually (scrollTop += delta). That write
is not flagged as programmatic, so useChatAutoFollow's scroll handler treated it
as movement and issued its own correcting scroll — a redundant up/down move on
every prepend. On most setups it settles after one move, but with different
virtualizer measurement/timing it never converges, producing the reported
infinite up/down scroll glitch.
When pinned, delegate the prepend re-pin to auto-follow's goToBottom('instant'):
a single authoritative write to the bottom that IS marked programmatic, so
auto-follow ignores it instead of fighting it. The released case (user reading
back through history) is unchanged and still preserves the read position.
This also covers the on-open history auto-load (loadEarlierIfPinnedViewport-
Underfilled), which only runs while pinned, so its prepends now go through the
single writer too.
When clearing temperature or topP on an existing agent, the UI sent
undefined which JSON.stringify drops, so the server never received the
clear command. Now sends null to properly remove the override in
opencode.json.

and top_p, matching the existing prompt handling.

* feat(agents): expose thinking variant configuration in agent settings
Fix#1425: add variant field to agent config UI so users can configure
thinking/reasoning depth per agent without editing opencode.json.
Changes:
- Added variant to AgentConfig and AgentDraft types in useAgentsStore
- Pass variant in createAgent and updateAgent API calls
- Support null for temperature, top_p, and variant to clear overrides
- Added variant input field in AgentsPage 'Model & Parameters' section
- Added variant to settings search registry
- Added i18n strings for variant field in all 8 non-English locales
The variant field maps to provider-specific parameters (e.g. Anthropic
high/max variant, OpenAI reasoning effort). Users can enter any string
value; the SDK passes it through to the model provider.
Clearing temperature/topP/variant now sends null to the server instead
of omitting the field, which properly removes the override in
opencode.json.

* chore: trigger re-review
* fix(agents): use thinking variant selector in settings
* fix(agents): preserve thinking variant values

Fix#1462: handleDisconnectProvider called the SDK auth.remove() which
only clears auth credentials from auth.json. Cloud providers configured

removes the provider from all config sources.

* fix(agents): use isPrimaryMode filter for agent picker
Fix#1527: agent picker filtered by mode !== 'subagent' which missed
agents with unexpected mode values. Now uses isPrimaryMode() which
only includes 'primary', 'all', undefined, and null — the semantically
correct set of agents that should appear in the picker.
* fix(agents): use isPrimaryMode consistently across all agent pickers
Updated AgentSelector.tsx to use isPrimaryMode instead of mode !== 'subagent'.
Removed duplicate isPrimaryMode definition from useConfigStore.ts and
imported the shared helper from mobileControlsUtils.

* fix(chat): preserve tool duration across session switches
Fix#1636: ToolPart.tsx reset pinnedTime to empty on unmount/remount,

pinnedTime from server-provided time?.start/time?.end in the useState
initializer, eliminating the one-frame gap.

* fix(sidebar): increase virtualizer buffer for expanded parents
Fix#1530: archive sub-session layout broken because the virtualizer
used a fixed 28px height estimate per row. Expanded parents with inline
children are much taller. Now dynamically increases bufferSize when
expanded parents are present.
* fix(sidebar): correct expansion-key format for virtualizer buffer
The expansion key was using raw sessionId instead of the scoped format
'project:{archived|active}:{sessionId}'. This made hasExpandedParent
always false, so bufferSize never increased. Also removed dead
hasSessionSearchQuery branch.

* fix(sync): reflect share status from global store after cancel
Fix#1551: unshareSession() called updateLiveSession() which silently

child store first, showing stale share data. Now overlays the global
session's share field at merge points.
* fix(sync): extract shared mergeLiveSessionWithGlobalSession helper
Extracted the share-field overlay into a single shared helper in
useGlobalSessionsStore.ts. All 3 merge sites now use the helper
instead of duplicating the overlay logic.
* test(sync): add unit tests for mergeLiveSessionWithGlobalSession helper

* fix: preserve settings default thinking variant when switching agents
When a user sets a default thinking variant (e.g. 'high') in settings and
switches between plan and build agents in a session, the variant was reset
to 'default' (undefined) instead of respecting the settings default.
Root cause: two code paths failed to fall back to settingsDefaultVariant:
1. ModelControls variant sync effect: when no per-session+agent+model
variant was saved, the effect set currentVariant to undefined instead
of falling back to settingsDefaultVariant.
2. setAgent in useConfigStore: when the target agent had a configured
model, the variant was always passed as undefined to
applyResolvedModelSelection, ignoring both the saved per-session
variant and the settings default.
Fix both paths to resolve variants in priority order:
saved variant > settingsDefaultVariant > undefined.
* fix: preserve agent variant fallback order
* fix: apply historical session variant on restore

`mobile.css` applies `min-width: 36px; min-height: 36px` to all `[role="button]` elements on mobile devices for touch targets, enlarging the subagent chevron from `14×14px to 36×36px`. This extends the chevron box 20px past the content edge, visually overlapping the session title. Add inline `minWidth/minHeight: 14` to pin the chevron size.
In the changes/diff view, an unwrapped diff's intrinsic width leaked up the
flex chain: the flex-1 column holding the scroll area lacked min-width:0, so its
min-content (the widest line) stretched it — and every nested w-full element,
including the .pierre-diff-wrapper (overflow-x-auto) and the file header — grew
to the content width. That pushed the header's action controls past the narrow
viewport and left overflow-x-auto with nothing to scroll.
Add min-w-0 to the diff layout's flex items so the chain stays at viewport
width: long lines now scroll horizontally inside the diff, and the file header
controls stay visible.
The oc_url_token has a ~50s effective lifetime and was only fetched once at
preview mount, so HTML/image/PDF previews cycled to 'authentication required'
when it expired and nothing forced a re-render with a fresh token.
Add a consumer-gated proactive refresh in runtime-auth: while at least one
url-token consumer is active, a single scheduler mints a fresh token just
before the skew window and swaps it in atomically (the previous token stays
valid until the new one lands — no empty-token window for other consumers).
acquire/release manage the consumer count; subscribe fires only on a real
token replacement.
FilesView consumes this via a shared useAssetAuthRefresh hook (replacing three
near-duplicate effects) and remounts the iframe/img only when the token
actually changes, not on a blind interval.
Reworks the chat and session-sidebar render paths to cut render cascades, memory
churn, and UI jank on large sessions and big session trees. Behavior is preserved;
the changes are about *when* and *how much* the UI re-renders.
## Chat streaming
- Freeze the streaming message's parts in the bulk turn projection during streaming,
and re-inject live parts only in an isolated tail leaf, so a ~60/sec delta stream
no longer re-runs the whole-session projection or re-renders unrelated rows.
session with referential reuse of unchanged turns.
- Memoize message rows with field-aware comparators instead of reference equality.
- Replace the manual child-session polling in the task tool with the live SSE
stream + a one-shot load, removing a fetch/settle state machine.
## History loading & scroll
- Load an initial page fast, then prepend one older page in the background so the
scroll container has headroom and "load older on scroll-up" fires before the user
hits the absolute top.
- Compensate scroll synchronously (in a layout effect, before paint) for prepends —
including background prepends that don't originate from a user scroll — so the
viewport stays stable instead of judder-correcting on the next frame.
## Markdown rendering
- Render markdown synchronously *styled* on first paint (paragraphs, lists, code
cards, tables, inline code) instead of raw escaped text; the async pass then only
upgrades syntax-highlight colors. Eliminates the flash of full-width raw text.
- Load KaTeX CSS eagerly with the main bundle instead of inside the lazy markdown
chunk, avoiding a late stylesheet injection on first render.
## Sidebar
- Hoist per-row recursive tree walks out of row comparators into per-group
precomputed sets/keys; batch live-session lookups into a single map; add a
group-level memo boundary.
- Isolate rename drafts so per-keystroke typing doesn't repaint the row tree.
## Sync layer
- Add a staleness guard so a slow message fetch can't repopulate a session the user
navigated away from.
- Throw on fetch failure for authoritative loaders so a transient blip can't read as
an empty server response.
## Cleanup
- Remove dead code (unused hooks, params, duplicated inline types) surfaced while
reworking the above.
## Known issue
- A rare, purely cosmetic first-paint width flash can still appear on large sessions;
it has no behavioral or data impact and is tracked for a follow-up runtime trace.
