Rework the /catch-up hidden instructions: write like a teammate catching
you up rather than a CI summary, scope strictly to the current branch,
and never surface unrelated branches, other people's PRs, or review
requests. When the current branch has no PR of its own, skip pull-request
talk entirely and just recap recent work plus a next step.
Replace the 'What changed recently' draft chip with /catch-up, a command
whose hidden prompt branches on git state: reconstruct intent from an
in-progress diff, check an open PR's review state, or summarize recent
commits.
Add /debug as a new draft chip and command: a guided root-cause
investigation that captures the symptom, forms hypotheses, checks them
against the code, and confirms the cause before proposing a fix.
Both follow the /workspace-review pattern — visible + hidden magic
prompts wired into command autocomplete, the submit handler, draft preset
chips, and the Magic Prompts settings page, with i18n across all locales.
Add starter preset chips under the composer on the desktop draft welcome
screen (explore, what changed, plan, review). Clicking a chip submits
immediately; prompt chips send a natural-language prompt, command chips
reuse built-in slash commands.
Add a new /plan-feature built-in command, modeled on /workspace-review:
visible + hidden magic prompts that run a guided, batched-question
planning dialogue (investigate the code, ask up to 3 clarifying
questions at a time, surface pitfalls, then produce an implementation
plan). Wired into command autocomplete, the submit handler, the draft
plan chip, and the Magic Prompts settings page, with i18n across all
locales.
Capture the preview/browser iframe DOM with snapDOM (html-to-image
fallback) so web annotation screenshots match the visible viewport,
without a headless Chromium dependency.
- Preserve document scroll via viewport crop and re-bake nested scroll
(e.g. the Starlight sidebar) deterministically on the clone
- Pin position:fixed elements to their measured viewport rect so headers
and sidebars land correctly in the crop
- Extract preview capture/proxy helpers into
lib/preview/screenshot-capture.ts to slim down ContextPanel
- Guard the external preview proxy against SSRF to private, loopback and
reserved/link-local addresses (incl. cloud metadata)
- Fully validate preview bridge messages before formatting/use
- Warn on the empty browser tab that pages run with full access, so
users browse untrusted sites knowingly

Add launch-at-startup support across the Electron desktop app and the web CLI.
Electron now supports macOS launch-at-login through the native login item API. Login launches start OpenChamber in the background without opening a window, while Dock activation, deep links, and second-instance launches still open or focus the normal app window. The desktop Settings UI now exposes a localized launch-at-login toggle in Desktop Network Access.
The web CLI now includes `openchamber startup status|enable|disable`, backed by native user services:
- macOS: launchd LaunchAgent
- Linux: systemd --user service
- Windows: Task Scheduler
Startup services run `openchamber serve --foreground` so the OS service manager owns process lifetime and restarts. Foreground service updates now defer restarts to the service manager instead of spawning duplicate CLI restarts.
Startup services snapshot useful environment variables by default so provider tokens, PATH, SSH agent settings, and OpenCode configuration survive login/reboot starts. The snapshot avoids shell/session-only state, uses systemd-compatible env quoting on Linux, and avoids unused env artifacts on macOS.
Also adds localized docs for startup services and environment variables.
Use browser keyboard resizing by default on mobile
Remove mobile-only autocomplete button and tabs
Keep autocomplete behavior consistent across mobile and desktop
* feat(settings): add opencode plugins page
Manage opencode `plugin` array entries (npm, scoped npm, versioned,
local paths) and auto-loaded plugin files in `~/.config/opencode/plugins/`
and `<project>/.opencode/plugins/`. Mirrors MCP CRUD pattern.
- Server: `plugins.js` data layer + `plugin-routes.js` REST routes
- UI: PluginsSidebar / PluginsPage / AddPluginDialog
- Store: usePluginsStore (cache TTL, in-flight dedup, narrow selectors)
- i18n: 41 keys across 7 locales
Whitelist /api/config/plugins in JSON body-parser so POST/PATCH bodies
parse; opencode plugin specs runtime-resolve OPENCODE_CONFIG dir so
parallel test files do not cross-pollute module-frozen consts.
* feat(settings/plugins): hook npm registry for update + invalid-version detection
Plugins page now consults registry.npmjs.org with a 1h server cache. Sidebar
rows show an update badge with the latest version, group headers show how
many updates are available, the kebab adds an "Update to latest" action
that reuses the existing PATCH+restart flow, and the editor surfaces a
banner for update-available / missing-version / missing-package / malformed
/ missing-path / unreadable-path / offline-registry states. A refresh
button in the sidebar header forces a cache bypass.
- Server: `npm-registry.js` (cache + in-flight dedup + 5s timeout, 404
cached, network failures NOT cached) + `plugin-spec.js` (parser + exact
semver detection) + `GET /api/config/plugins/registry?specs=...&refresh=`
- Routes accept up to 100 specs/request, dedup by npm package name before
fetching, classify each result by kind, never propagate network failure
as 500.
- Client: `registryInfo` slice + `loadRegistryInfo` (fire-and-forget after
loadPlugins, refreshes on mutations) + `updateToLatest(id)`.
- UI: `RegistryBadge` per-row + `RegistryBanner` per-entry editor, both
use theme tokens (text-only color, no new bg/border tokens) and the
shared Icon sprite. Per-spec subscriptions only.
- i18n: 24 new keys (incl. split singular/plural for "N update(s)
available" because the runtime does not parse ICU plural format).
* fix(settings/plugins): keep registry badge visible for long specs
Sidebar entry row used `inline-flex` with `truncate` only on the spec
text. With long npm specs the badge could be pushed past the row edge
and clipped by the parent overflow. Switch to `flex` with spec
`flex-1 min-w-0 truncate` and add `shrink-0` to the badge wrapper so
the update indicator stays anchored to the right of the row.
* fix(settings/plugins): use code-box icon to distinguish from MCP
Plugins nav entry used 'plug' which is visually too close to MCP's
'plug-2' icon. Swap to 'code-box' for clearer differentiation in the
Settings nav list.

Treat the mobile web surface as a constrained runtime so sync loads smaller message pages, keeps fewer warm session caches, and evicts heavy inactive sessions instead of retaining them across switches.
Limit mobile message-record and turn-model caches to reduce memory pressure on phones while preserving bounded initial page expansion for large final turns.
Split the mobile session status bar so the collapsed state avoids subscribing to the full session/status list; the expensive grouping work now only mounts for the expanded list.
Verified with bun run type-check and bun run lint.
* feat(chat): live markdown source-mode highlighting in composer
Highlight markdown syntax, fenced code blocks, and mention-style tokens
directly in the chat input via the existing transparent-textarea overlay
(color/decoration/background only, so caret alignment is preserved).
- Markdown source-mode: inline/fenced code, links, headings, blockquotes,
list markers, with dimmed syntax punctuation
- Per-language syntax highlighting inside fenced blocks, reusing the editor's
CodeMirror language resolver + Lezer (bash/js/ts/json/html/css/python/md);
highlighted blocks use a neutral base, plain fences keep the code color
- Token highlighting on match: @file, @agent, /command, /skill, #snippet
- Auto-pairing: wrap selection with markers, triple-backtick expands to a
fenced block; paste a URL over a selection to form a markdown link
- Add md/markdown to the shared code-block language resolver
* fix(chat): address composer highlight review
- Tilde (~~~) fenced blocks now get per-language syntax highlighting
- Share fence open/close detection between tokenizeMarkdown and
highlightFencedCode so they agree on boundaries (fence length + format),
fixing range bleed with 4-backtick fences and ```lang lines inside blocks
- Replace buildHighlightParts O(segments x ranges) scan with a sweep-line
over an active set (verified equivalent vs the prior algorithm across 30k
randomized cases, including overlaps and explicit class/priority)
- Cap per-block Lezer parsing at 20k chars; oversized blocks keep the neutral
code base without per-token coloring
* fix: resolve symlinks in project directory paths
OpenCode stores sessions using the canonical (realpath) directory, but
OpenChamber passed the unresolved symlink path in several places. The
string-match directory filter would fail when a project was accessed via
a symlink, making sessions invisible.
Changes:
- Add safeRealpathSync to settings normalization — project paths and
lastDirectory are canonicalized at persistence time
- Add Express middleware before the API proxy to resolve symlinks in
?directory= query params on in-flight requests
- Resolve symlinks in /api/fs/list so the directory browser returns
canonical paths, allowing the "already added" check to work correctly
- Reconcile the in-memory projects store when the server responds with
normalized paths, preventing temporary duplicates

* perf(git): cache project-root resolution to stop N² polling cascade
Opening a workspace with many projects/worktrees fired hundreds of
`POST /api/fs/exec` requests (e.g. ~700 for 19 projects) within seconds,
dominated by repeated `git rev-parse --absolute-git-dir` /
`--git-common-dir` for the same directories.
Root cause: in `useProjectRepoStatus`, each project's `ensureStatus`
settles independently and mutates the git store, which re-derives
`projectGitBranchesKey` and re-runs `getRootBranch` for *all* projects on
every change. `getRootBranch` had no caching, so this produced an N×N
burst of uncached git plumbing calls.
Changes:
- worktreeStatus: extract `resolveProjectRoot` to module scope with a
60s TTL cache + in-flight dedupe (root resolution is static within a
session). Combine the two `rev-parse` queries into one subprocess.
Add `getRootBranch(dir, { knownBranch })` fast-path that skips a
redundant git status when the directory is its own root, while still
resolving the primary-root branch correctly for linked worktrees.
Export `invalidateResolvedProjectRootCache`.
- useProjectRepoStatus: replace the cascade effect with a debounced,
diff-based pass that only resolves projects that are new or whose
branch actually changed, passing the known branch through.
- worktreeManager: invalidate the root cache on worktree create/remove.
- Add unit tests for caching, dedupe, invalidation, rev-parse
precedence, non-git fallback, linked-worktree resolution and the
knownBranch fast-path.
Reduces startup from hundreds of requests to roughly one root
resolution per project.
* fix(git): clear in-flight resolves and guard write-back on cache invalidation
`invalidateResolvedProjectRootCache` cleared `resolvedRootCache` but left
`inFlightRootResolves` intact, so during a worktree topology change a
resolution already in flight could (1) be handed to callers arriving after
invalidation and (2) re-seed the cache with the pre-invalidation root when it
settled, defeating invalidation for up to the full TTL.
Drop the in-flight entry on invalidation and add an epoch guard so a resolve
that was invalidated mid-flight does not write its now-stale result back.
Add a regression test for the concurrent-invalidation scenario.
* fix(git): bound root cache and avoid early sidebar resolves
* feat(tts/stt): add API key support for OpenAI-compatible custom providers
## Problem
Custom (OpenAI-compatible) TTS/STT provider in Voice Settings has no way to
pass an API key or bearer token. Many self-hosted or third-party compatible
servers require authentication, making them unreachable from OpenChamber.
The server-side TTS route already accepts an `apiKey` parameter, but the
frontend never sends it. The STT route hardcodes `'not-required'`.
## Implementation
- Add `openaiCompatibleApiKey` to Zustand config store, persisted to localStorage
- Add API Key input field in VoiceSettings.tsx under the custom provider section
- Wire `openaiCompatibleApiKey` through useServerTTS to the TTS backend
- Add `apiKey` field to AudioStreamConfig for STT, forwarded as X-API-Key header
- Update server STT route to accept and forward X-API-Key to transcribeAudio
- Update stt.js to use client-provided apiKey before falling back to env var

* feat(tts/stt): add separate API key support for custom TTS and STT providers
## Problem
Custom (OpenAI-compatible) TTS and STT providers in Voice Settings have no way
to pass API keys. Many self-hosted or third-party compatible servers require
authentication, making them unreachable from OpenChamber Desktop (Electron).
## Implementation
- Add `openaiCompatibleApiKey` for TTS (persisted to localStorage, passed in JSON body)
- Add `sttApiKey` for STT (persisted to localStorage, passed via Authorization: Bearer header)
- Two independent keys: TTS and STT are configured separately
- STT authentication follows OpenAI standard (Authorization: Bearer <token>)
- TTS authentication follows existing pattern (apiKey in JSON body)
- Backend STT route extracts bearer token from Authorization header
- Backend STT service prefers client-provided key over OPENAI_API_KEY env var
## Fixes
- Fixed P1: ConfigStore interface now declares setOpenaiCompatibleApiKey setter
- STT API key is only forwarded when sttProvider === 'server' (not leaked to other providers)

Replace the prompt-template workflow with snippet support that is compatible with opencode snippet conventions. Snippets are now stored and loaded from global and project snippet directories, including legacy pluralized paths, with frontmatter metadata for aliases and descriptions. Snippet expansion supports recursive references plus prepend and append sections, while inject sections are treated as unsupported no-ops so OpenChamber remains compatible without requiring an external plugin.
Add the snippets settings experience and remove the old prompt-template settings surface. The new settings page and sidebar support creating, editing, deleting, selecting, and describing snippets, with localized copy across every supported locale. The settings navigation now exposes Snippets with a dedicated icon and metadata.
Wire snippets into all prompt-entry surfaces that need them. Chat, multi-run groups, and scheduled task prompts now offer hash-trigger snippet autocomplete and expand snippets before sending work to OpenCode. Chat also uses an adaptive compact placeholder on mobile or narrow composer widths so helper trigger guidance stays readable in constrained layouts.
Keep multi-run aligned with grouped prompts. Multi-run sessions now use a shared title builder that handles both legacy titles and the newer g1, g2 prompt-group title format. Fusion parsing now recognizes grouped multi-run titles, scopes fusion sources to the same prompt group, and creates fusion sessions under the matching group so outputs from different prompts are not mixed accidentally.
Harden the icon sprite pipeline. The sprite generator now discovers icon names used through typed icon maps, JSX icon props, IconName returns, and generated-value flows without scanning unrelated string literals or the generated sprite itself. The generated sprite is strictly typed so invalid icon names are caught by type checking, and existing invalid or unsafe icon references were cleaned up across settings, provider, Git identity, scheduled task, voice, header, and sidebar surfaces.
Update backend configuration routes and documentation for snippets. The OpenCode config route layer now exposes snippet CRUD and expansion endpoints, accepts JSON bodies for snippet writes, and removes the old prompt-template provider. Scheduled task runtime expansion now uses snippets before dispatching messages.
Add regression coverage for snippet storage and expansion, config-route JSON handling, and multi-run title parsing. Validated with full type checking, full linting, targeted multi-run title tests, and targeted OpenCode snippet/config route tests.

* fix: make PWA install and OpenCode update toasts dismissible
Both 'Install OpenChamber' and 'OpenCode update available' toasts use
duration: Infinity with no close affordance, so they persist on screen
until the user accepts (install/update) or reloads the tab. For users
who do not want to install the PWA or upgrade right now, this is
intrusive and there is no opt-out.
Add a Dismiss button (sonner cancel action) to both toasts. When the
user dismisses:
- PWA: persist a flag in localStorage so the prompt does not reappear
on future sessions. Accepting Install still works as before.
- OpenCode update: persist the dismissed version in localStorage. The
toast will appear again only when a newer version becomes available.
Adds new i18n keys pwa.installPrompt.dismiss and
opencodeUpdate.toast.actions.dismiss across all seven locales (en,
es, ko, pl, pt-BR, uk, zh-CN).
* test: extract toast dedup helpers and cover with 28 unit tests
Lift the dismissal-decision logic out of usePwaInstallPrompt and
OpenCodeUpdateToast into a React-free sibling module so it can be
unit-tested directly. The React surfaces remain sole owners of side
effects (storage writes, toast.info, event listeners); the new module
only answers 'should we show?'.
New module openCodeUpdateDedup.ts exposes four helpers:
- shouldShowPwaInstallToast(input) - three gates: dismissed,
sessionShown, hasActiveToast.
- shouldShowOpenCodeUpdateToast(input) - empty version, seen set,
dismissed===version gates; a different dismissed version lets the
toast resurface for the new release.
- resolveOpenCodeUpdateVersion(detail) - parses CustomEvent payloads
defensively (null/non-object/non-string -> '').
- resolveOpenCodeUpgradeStatusVersion(status) - parses upgrade status
payloads (status falsy / available!==true / latestVersion non-string
-> '').
Consumers now call the helpers and only run the side-effect when the
decision is true. Behaviour is unchanged.
Coverage: 28 tests via bun:test, 33 expects, all pass first try.
Targets active editor chat before falling back to sidebar
Adds session open-in-editor action in the VS Code sidebar
Uses attachment badges for VS Code file and selection context
Change the chat text-selection Add to notes action to use the existing markdown selection payload, matching Add to chat formatting behavior while still falling back to plain text when markdown extraction is unavailable.
Stop distilling or summarizing selected text before saving it to project notes. The action now appends the selected content directly so code, lists, emphasis, and other markdown survive.
Increase the project notes text limit from 1000 to 3000 characters to account for saving raw selected text instead of a short generated summary.
Update user-facing copy across locales from distilled insight language to selected text language.
Disable the active Zen summarization flow because the unauthenticated/free Zen provider is no longer available and now returns usage-limit errors for this feature.
Keep /api/text/summarize as an API-compatible stub that returns local sanitized or distilled fallback text with summarized=false, rather than attempting external model calls.
Remove notification and voice playback summary behavior from runtime paths. Notification {last_message} now always uses normalized truncated text, and TTS playback ignores historical summarize request fields.
Hide the notification summary settings and voice summarize-before-playback controls while preserving legacy persisted settings for compatibility. Also disable Zen model startup validation and make Zen model list routes return empty results.
Update module documentation and tests to describe the retired provider behavior and the remaining compatibility stubs.

* feat: add copy-as-markdown and copy-as-json buttons to question card
Adds two small icon buttons in the QuestionCard header so users can copy
the full question payload (text, options, descriptions) to the clipboard
in either Markdown or JSON form. Useful for forwarding interactive
questions to an external LLM or note.
- Markdown serialization preserves question headers, multi-select hints
and option descriptions.
- JSON serialization mirrors the on-wire QuestionRequest shape for
programmatic reuse.
- Toast feedback on success/failure using the shared @/components/ui
wrapper and the existing copyTextToClipboard helper (clipboard API
with execCommand fallback).
- New i18n keys added across all 7 locales.
* test: extract question serializers and cover with 15 unit tests
The two serializers backing the copy-as-markdown and copy-as-json
buttons on QuestionCard were defined as top-level consts inside
QuestionCard.tsx. Exposing them for unit tests would trip the
react-refresh/only-export-components ESLint rule because that file
also exports the QuestionCard component.
Move serializeQuestionAsMarkdown and serializeQuestionAsJson into a
React-free sibling module, questionSerializers.ts, and re-import them
from QuestionCard.tsx. Behavior is byte-identical.
Add 15 unit tests via bun:test covering header fallback, multi-select
hint gating, blank-description elision, ordering across multiple
questions, JSON canonical shape (no transient id/sessionID), boolean
normalisation, and the empty-questions edge case.
* fix: preserve state when reconnect-time fetches fail
Several client API methods swallowed fetch/SDK errors and returned an
empty value (`[]`, `{}`), which was indistinguishable from a successful
"server says nothing here" response. Reconnect resync paths trusted that
empty result as authoritative and deleted local state — so after a
network blip (sleep/wake, wifi reconnect, tunnel switch), the UI could
show:
- sessions stuck on the "running" indicator (status never cleared)
- pending permission prompts disappearing from the UI
- pending question prompts disappearing from the UI
and only a page reload would recover. A related case: `listAgents`
silently returning `[]` defeated the 3-attempt retry loop in
`useAgentsStore` because the loop never saw an error.
The systematic fix:
- `getSessionStatusForDirectory` now returns `null` on fetch failure
(vs the previous `{}`); the reconnect resync treats only a non-null
response as authoritative — candidates missing from the response are
written as `{type: "idle"}`, candidates after a failure are left
untouched.
- `listPendingPermissions`, `listPendingQuestions`, and `listAgents`
now throw on SDK/network failure. The pre-existing outer try/catch
blocks in `resyncBlockingRequestsForDirectory` and the retry loop in
`useAgentsStore` were already in the right shape — they just never
fired because no exception was thrown. A small `formatSdkError`
helper renders the SDK `{data, error}` shape into the thrown message.
- `permissionStore.setSessionAutoAccept` catches the new throw and
falls back to whatever sync-store snapshots provide; the next SSE
event or reconnect resync will catch up anything missed.
AGENTS.md gets a new "Distinguish fetch failure from empty success"
subsection documenting the principle (throw vs `T | null` patterns,
when to pick which, the retry-loop trap) so this doesn't regress.
Adds 3 regression tests covering the resync paths: existing
questions/permissions are preserved when the corresponding `list*`
method throws, and a permission-fetch failure does not block the
question block from running (verifies per-block try/catch isolation).
* fix: pause reconnect loop when offline or hidden
The SSE/WebSocket reconnect loop retried indefinitely with no awareness
of whether the browser was online or whether the tab was even visible.
Three issues compounded:
- No `online`/`offline` event handling. With a foreground tab on a dead
network, we'd hit the server every ~5s forever, and on network
recovery we'd wait up to ~5s for the next probe instead of reacting
to the `online` event.
- No visibility awareness. A backgrounded PWA on a flaky link kept
probing at the same rate as a foreground tab. The browser does
throttle hidden-tab timers, but the intent wasn't expressed in code.
- The "exponential backoff" math
`min(5000, max(retryDelayMs, 250) * (failures <= 1 ? 1 : 2))`
re-initialized `retryDelayMs` to 250 every iteration, so the cap of
5s was never reached — we waited 500ms forever after the second
failure. Not actually exponential.
Now:
- `online` event aborts the current attempt (if disconnected) and
cuts inter-attempt waits short. `offline` event aborts so the loop
enters the slow-probe path immediately.
- `computeRetryDelay` returns the long cap (60s) when `navigator.onLine`
is false or the tab is hidden; the short cap (5s) when foreground +
online. The `online` event is the expected recovery path; the 60s cap
is a fallback for browsers that miss the event.
- Real exponential growth: `BASE * 2^min(failures-1, 8)`, clamped.
- New `waitForRetry` helper interrupts on `online`,
visibility-becomes-visible, and abort signal — so visibility/network
recovery doesn't wait out the rest of the current sleep.
AGENTS.md gets a "Reconnect-loop pacing" subsection alongside the
fetch-failure rule, since they're the same family of resilience
concerns.
One regression test: simulates offline + failed first attempt + `online`
event after the failure; verifies the next attempt fires within seconds
instead of waiting the full 60s offline cap.
* fix: long-cap backoff for permanent 4xx server errors
Before this commit the reconnect loop didn't distinguish HTTP error
types. A stuck-path client (wrong URL after server upgrade) or an
expired-auth client (stale token) would hit the server at the normal
5-second cap forever — ~12 reqs/min, indefinitely, with no path to
recovery besides the user reloading.
Now the catch block extracts an HTTP status (looking on `error.status`
and `error.response.status` — the SDK exposes both depending on the
code path) and overrides the backoff:
- 4xx other than 408/429 → use the long cap (60s) immediately.
Blind retries won't fix wrong path / bad auth / forbidden, so don't
pound the server. waitForRetry's `online` / visibility-visible
interrupters still apply — when an operator fixes the server-side
config and the client comes back to foreground, recovery is prompt.
- 408 (Request Timeout) and 429 (Too Many Requests) → normal
exponential path. Those are retryable in spirit.
- 5xx / network / unknown → normal exponential path. Unchanged.
AGENTS.md gets a new bullet under "Reconnect-loop pacing" covering
this — the rule fits naturally alongside the existing `navigator.onLine`
and visibility signals.
Two regression tests:
- A 404-throwing SDK doesn't fire a second attempt within 250ms (proves
we left the exponential path). After `online` interrupts the wait,
subsequent attempts fire promptly — proves the override doesn't break
recovery once the underlying problem is fixed.
- A 429-throwing SDK recovers within 2s — proves 429 still hits the
fast exponential path and isn't caught by the permanent-error branch.
